Dating in NYC is generally not fun. At first it can be overwhelming, then aggravating and then you just want to give up. However.....I have an open mind and therefore, enjoy dating in nyc because of the characters that I meet.
First off, let me just say that I am not shy. I love meeting people. It is so much fun to just say hello and start yappin away with a complete stranger. To some people, this is a frightening experience...but not me! So dating is more of an event in learning about someone new.
Ok, I admit, I've gone to the online dating experience. It enables to me to weed out the shady characters, or so I think, in the comfort of my own home at 2 am in my pajamas. (Yes, I did just say pajamas). Plus, it's fun!
So the very first guy I dated after my last relationship (which I will blog about later) was a really big black guy from Queens. He was like this huge teddy bear. He had a car and a job. Drawback: he lived at home with his parents. Not that there's anything against that, but he had no children, nor was he divorced and trying to get back on his feet. He was just....lazy. We went on a nice date to a seafood place, and he was very enjoyable. He picked me up, and we had a nice time. He had to go back to his place to pick something up and showed me around. When I saw where he 'lived' in the basement, I wanted to do a military about-face in 2 seconds and get the hell out of there!! The place was a PIG STY!!! Not that I have anything against messy people, but this was disgusting. Trash just thrown everywhere, clothes, you name it. It churned my stomach, and there was no way in hell I wanted to be with this guy. Sooo....bye bye guy #1 (who then proceeded to call me almost every day for about 3 months then finally got the hint and gave up).
